Jonathan Pfeffer

Group Chairman

Jonathan Pfeffer opened ‘Pfeffer & Co.’ in St Ann’s Square, Manchester in February 1970, establishing a well-respected legal firm that specialized in conveyancing and commercial property.

Qualifying as a solicitor in June 1968, he also obtained a Diploma in American Law from the University of Columbia, New York, before developing business relationships with first Edward Clifford, and then Graham Leigh.

He subsequently developed and chaired a legal organisation around Greater Manchester that combined a number of independent legal practices and support services.

With various Managing Partners he practised under the ‘Clifford & Co’ banner, and later ‘Graham Leigh Pfeffer & Co’.

In March 2004, building on the abbreviation of ‘GLP’ which by now had become well-known, all the associated firms chose to operate under the ‘GLP Solicitors’ brand.

Jonathan Pfeffer no longer practices as a solicitor, but continues to manage and contribute his management skills to the GLP Solicitor offices and other numerous outside interests. He is also Chairman of the Bury-based Dictate2Us Group, a global digital dictation outsourcing business.

A supporter of many local charities and voluntary groups, he was the founding Chairman and is now the founding Life President of MedEquip4Kids, formerly the Greater Manchester Childrens Hospital Appeal Fund,

He has been the Chair of the Prestwich Citizens Advice Bureau and of the Greater Manchester Jewish Housing Association, and President of the Manchester Jewish Federation (The Feds). He is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Langdon Foundation, an organisation providing educational and residential facilities to disadvantaged young people.

As with the Broughton Jewish Cassel Fox Primary School, where he was a Governor and Trustee, he retains a keen interest in their ongoing activities.

Jonathan Pfeffer is a Partner (or Member) in the ‘GLP Solicitors’ practices located in Bury, Manchester, Pendlebury, Prestwich and Worsley. He has retired from the Middleton practice of ‘GLP’ which maintains a branch office at Crumpsall.
